Twenty-Five Years, Same Two Brothers, Same One Rule

Phil and Will Schoggen started cutting yards around Clinton as kids, with a push mower and a string trimmer their mother drove around in the back of the car.

Their father gave them one rule: do what you say you're going to do, when you say you're going to do it. Twenty-five years later, that standing rule has not changed. Gratefully, the equipment has.

Putting the Family Name on the Work

The company incorporated in 2001 as Premier Lawn and Landscape, Inc. Central Mississippi already had a Premier Lawns, a Premier Landscape, and a Premier most other things, and calls arrived from people whose grass had been cut by somebody else entirely.

In April 2010 the company became SchoggenScapes. The tagline chosen then, green spaces and outdoor places, is still on the trucks, and so is the green. Sixteen years on, the fleet is recognized across the Jackson Metro Area.

SchoggenScapes moved to 1117 Industrial Park Drive in Clinton in 2013 and expanded the building in fall 2025, converting warehouse space into offices and a conference room where designs are now presented.

Long Tenure, Short Chain of Command

Ann Schoggen, who drove her sons to those first jobs, manages the SchoggenScapes office and usually answers the phone. A first call often reaches the person who was there before the company had a name. When she is out, Will or the operations manager takes the call. Call before 3 p.m. and you hear back by 5 p.m. the same day. Call after 3 p.m. and you hear back by 10 a.m. the next business day.

Tenure runs long in the field as well. A member of the field production team has been with SchoggenScapes since 2006, and the operations manager has been with the company for over 12 years. Every team member signs on to the company's core values as a condition of working here.

Will Schoggen puts the obligation plainly: when the company does not have work, the families of the people who work here feel it first.
