Landscape Lighting With a Light Touch
Lighting Installation That Shows Off the Work
You put real money into the yard, and once the sun goes down, nobody can see any of it.
A single floodlight off the back of the house doesn't fix that; it washes everything out and lights up the neighbor's bedroom window. As a landscape lighting contractor, SchoggenScapes designs fixtures into the larger landscape plan, putting light on the trees, steps, and seating areas you want to see and leaving the rest alone.
We light yards for homeowners in Brandon, Flowood, Gluckstadt, Jackson, and the rest of Madison, Rankin, and Hinds counties.
-
A light at the base of a big oak or along a bed of shrubs turns the planting into something you notice at night, too. Your designer picks out the few features worth lighting instead of putting a fixture on everything.
-
Soft light across the front of the home and along the entry makes the house easy to find and easy to walk up to after dark. Guests aren't feeling their way to the door, and the house looks good from the street.
-
Anywhere the ground changes height, a few well-placed lights show where to put your feet. It's the part of the plan that keeps an evening outside from ending with a twisted ankle.
-
Patios, seating walls, and dining areas get enough light to see faces and plates, set low so the light isn't in anyone's eyes.
-
On one Flowood project, the lighting was laid out to highlight everything our crews had built and still let the family use the yard at night without it feeling overly bright. That balance is the goal on every yard we light.
What Gets Lit and Why
Name the spots you want lit.
Call 601-924-2869 or use the contact form. Mention which parts of the yard you use after dark, which ones you wish you could, and a budget you're comfortable with. We'll follow up to schedule a visit.
Mark it out with your designer.
Your designer goes over the yard with you and decides what should be lit and what should stay dark, then works out fixture count and cost. The design consultation carries a fee, and it’s credited back to your project when we build it.
Flip the switch.
Our crews run the wiring, set each fixture, and aim it so the light lands where it should. Then you step outside and see everything lit for the first time.

Before You Light Up the Yard
-
A landscape lighting contractor plans placement, wiring, and brightness as one system, so the yard looks even and the wire is buried where a shovel or mower won't find it. Plug-in kits and solar stakes tend to light a circle of mulch and not much else. SchoggenScapes' designer works out every fixture before one is ordered.
-
Landscape lighting should be bright enough to see steps, faces, and the features you want people to notice, and no brighter, with fixtures aimed down and away from the neighbors. Several soft lights placed with care usually look better and feel more comfortable than one or two strong ones. Our designer aims for a yard that feels lit, not lit up.
-
An outdoor lighting company should start with the places where someone could trip: steps, grade changes, and the path to the entry. Next come the spaces you spend evenings in, like the patio or fire pit area. Trees, plantings, and the facade come after that, and they're what make the yard worth a second look at night.
-
Landscape lighting installation is planned during design and finished near the end of the project, after the hardscape and plantings are in. The wire runs get laid earlier, while the ground is still open. That way each fixture can be aimed at the finished yard instead of a guess at what it will look like.
